How to Trace from a Tablet on Glow Art Kids’ Drawing Boards

Here’s a tutorial video we posted some time back, showing how you can trace from a tablet or iPad on your Glow Art kids’ drawing board.

Our drawing board is very versatile – you can use stencils that you print out on a A4 sheet of paper and put it underneath the drawing surface. You can also download the stencils that come with the product from our website. OR, you can do as we’ve suggested here, and google any of your child’s favourite characters or subjects, place the on-screen picture underneath Glow Art, and trace away!

And of course, once you’ve done that, light up your drawing with the LEDs around the screen, and try all of the different lighting modes that our LED light board has to offer!

Here’s a little tutorial on how to draw Mickey Mouse on your Glow Art Light Up Kids’ drawing board.  We’ve used a print of Mickey and put it underneath the drawing board to make it easier for younger children, but his lines are fairly simple and with a little practice many kids will be happy to do this freehand!  Another option is to take a tablet or iPad and put that underneath GlowArt, if you don’t want to print out the drawing.

In this tutorial, we’ve also used what we call the ‘frozen effect’ to make the drawing extra cool 😉  This is a technique we use to create a ‘frozen ice’ like effect on the drawing screen, using a little water. This gives a nice semi-transparent effect lit up by the LEDs in the screen.

Drawing Mickey Mouse on Light Up Kids' Drawing Board

This is what we’re looking to end up with, so… let’s do it!

The first thing we need to do (if we’re going down the tracing route) is to place our picture of Mickey underneath the board.  Then we simply start carefully following the simple lines with one of the neon effect marker pens.

Next up, we’ll use several colours of the neon-effect pens, because that’s what gives Glow Art it’s cool effects – the more colours you add to your drawing, the more interesting ways the fluorescent inks will interact with the different colour LEDs on the drawing board.

Tracing Mickey Mouse on Glow Art

Now we’ve finished the basic tracing of Mickey Mouse’s face, let’s try a few different light-up modes to see what the LEDs do to transform our drawing so far.  We’ll just press the button that controls the 36 different lighting effects, and see what it looks like!

You can see the drawing changes colours completely depending on the mode, giving a kind of neon-like effect.  What you can’t see is the different flashing and pulsing effects, transforming the picture in very cool ways!  Anyway, let’s move on to add the ‘frozen effect’.

To get this cool effect, first, turn the drawing board over, so we can use the other writing surface.   Glow Art allows you to write or draw on both sides of the screen, and because of the thickness of the screen, it also gives a bit of a ‘3D’ effect as well. Nice!

So all we’re going to do is, scribble some ink over the back drawing surface, and then add a couple drops of water. Literally, just a couple of drops, don’t overdo it!  Then take a soft cloth or tissue and just wipe the wet ink across the screen in long strokes, trying to cover all the way to the edges.  Once you’ve done that, tilt the board at a 45 degree angle, and gently blow across the ink. It will quickly dry as you’re blowing, giving a cool ‘freezing’ effect.

Next, we’ll highlight Mickey’s face by erasing the dried ‘frozen’ ink from that part of the drawing. You can use your finger or maybe better a tissue over your finger to save washing your hands!

And last but not least, just for fun, we’re going to add a little decoration to Mickey’s ears to make the drawing more fun!

Glow Art – the original and best LED Drawing Boards for Kids!

Today we’re going to take a look at what we can do with the GlowArt Kids Drawing Board for helping very young children with their early artistic education in drawing, tracing, writing, and early mark making!  This video is aimed at 3-5 year olds who are just beginning to develop these skills.

You can see the full video here – Drawing board Exercises for very young children

First we start off with very basic shapes – this is great to tech early mark making.  Just simple things like squares, triangles, circles to start with. These are simple for us, but not for the youngest kids!

Another great start is their name of course!  Children will always like to learn how to write that that!  But the great trick with this magic pad is if you draw on the back of the drawing board, kids can try tracing on the front without erasing your template!

If your boy or girl makes a mistake, you can easily wipe the ink off with a soft cloth, and they can practice over and over again!  When you’re ready to give them a new exercise, turn the drawing board over, and erase your template, and start again!

So that’s it! Watch the full video and others on our Youtube Channel, to see Tiago fully explain the GlowArt kids drawing board and its many uses and features!

P.S. These are things you can’t do with our competitor’s products like the Glow Pad, because they’re not double sided!

At CDK Developments, our two ‘flagship’ products are Glowart (which you know about, that’s why you’re here 😉 ) and Sing My Name personalised gifts for kids.  So… in this little post we’re going to tell you about probably our most famous product, the Sing My Name Kids Alarm Clock!

Kids alarm clock range

If you don’t know this product already, well it looks like a ‘traditional kids alarm clock’, but it’s anything but!  This clock sings a fantastic ‘Wake Up’ song featuring the child’s name when the alarm sounds!  So imagine your child having their very own song that features their name in the lyrics… it’s bound to become their favourite.  And that is what will wake them up every morning!

But a picture is worth a thousand words as they say, but in this case maybe it’s more the audio, but if you want to hear how cool this is, take a quick look at this Youtube clip in the name ‘Olivia’

We hope you’ll agree kids will love this fun alarm clock, but it can also make a cool novelty gift for adults! We’ve had plenty ordered just for fun office gifts, teenagers that are difficult to wake up, and husbands and wives who need a personalised birthday gift that’s going to give them a good laugh!

Features

On to the techy features, it has a high quality ‘scanning’ clock mechanism that doesn’t tick, in fact it’s almost silent, which is a must for many people, a volume control on the rear, and a demo button so children can play their own special song whenever they want. That also doubles as a 10 minute snooze button too!

It’s also a future-proof present, because… you can load your own music!  This cool alarm clock also allows you to connect to your PC with a USB cable and you can load your child’s favourite song (or yours) as the alarm.  Choose an MP3 file and change as often as you like, making this alarm clock a personalised gift kids will never get bored with!

Learning Time!

Because this is an analogue alarm clock, it can help kids learn the time the traditional way. They’ll definitely be more engaged to learn from this clock that sings just for them!

Sleep Training Clock

Another use is as a sleep trainer clock, by telling children to get up only when they hear their name in the personalised music.  And reward them before bedtime with their favourite song featuring their name.  We’ve had many customers who tell us this works a treat!

The clock includes 1 personalised song by default – but if you require additional names loaded you can purchase additional Wake Up songs on our website.

Coolest Kids Alarm Clock on the Planet?

So what do you think? Is the Sing My Name alarm clock the coolest, most unique personalised children’s gift you can give? 😉  We’ve sold over 100,000 all around the world and the main thing that we love is the smiles and laughter it brings to parents and their children when they hear it the first time.

This is actually my cousin, who wanted me to bring one back home when I visited Australia recently. It was amazing to see her reaction, she danced and laughed, as did her Mum! It’s why we do what we do!

We were proud to be part of Harrods Magical moonlight Feast on Sunday night, with several hundred lucky parents and kids spending a private evening in Harrods Toy kingdom with lots of activities and give aways. We were holding drawing classes with GlowArt and some parent were taking pics of their children’s art and sharing on #glowartkids . We were also there with our sing My Name products, giving away personalised CDs and showing off our personalised mp3 players and alarm clocks. See more of this at our website

Thought this was a great effort from a young lady on the GlowArt kids drawing board, only about 6 years old visited our stand in Harrods!  Unfortunately no pic taken of it lit up, bet it looks fantastic!
